The Wilthener distillery is one of Germany’s oldest and most important brandy distilleries. Founded in 1842 by Christian Traugott Hünlich, today it is the origin of a true success story. Hünlich’s son, Carl Albert Hünlich, began to focus on cognac/brandy due to their increasing popularity and presented the results at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1900. Wilthener brandies won gold and silver medals with the famous “Parisian barrel”. Even then it was said that the best brandies in the world came from Wilthen near Dresden – and nothing has changed since. Even today, the cellars of the distillery contain distillates and specialties that hold their own against the best cognacs in the world. But the Wilthener distillery product range has evolved considerably since the early days and now includes herbal liqueurs, rum, and fruit liqueurs in addition to brandies and spirit specialties.
